The below engine was Tricked out, assembled for racing and dynoed, then disassembled and Custom Thermal Cycled. At the completion of the thermal cycling the engine was reassembled for racing and dynoed. The results are as follows. Dear Lyle,
The engine 885 is doing well and we are still racing it at the
present time. We are leaving to race in the ASEAN series next week
and the race will be in Jakarta. Bryan has been doing reasonably
well this season with either a second or third in every race but
still without an outright win in the final. A couple of poles and
some heat wins with the engine.
I believe that the cryo treatment on the cylinder liner helped and
we are still using the liner with more than 80hours of racing and
practising on it. These cylinders are rated to 60 hrs and usually
are changed at around 50 when we race, so that is a great help. We
do not fit a temp guage to our enigne and cannot tell you if the
engine run cooler but a "seat of the pants" guess would
tell me that it is running slightly cooler as we seem to be getting
more consistency towards the end of the race when in the past there
was a slight drop in power as the engine heated up.
The major difference is in the treatment you did on the clutch.
Since fitting it, we have not had to change it at all and it seems
to provide better bite coming out of the slower corners. We are
extremely pleased with the results in this area. Bearing life on the
treated items are also longer which is a bonus with fewer rebuilds.
I will be sending some more items to you shortly for treatment but
am expecting a friend from Chicago coming down in September and will
wait for him to be my courier and save some moolah.
